Going Back To Egypt

By Assistant Pastor Dr. Jaden Fitzpatrick | March 8, 2026

Father, anoint our ears to hear and our hearts to receive. Give unction to function. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

On March 8, 2026, Assistant Pastor Jaden Fitzpatrick delivers a convicting message titled “Going Back To Egypt” from **Exodus 3** and **Numbers 14**. After the Red Sea crossing and early wilderness miracles, Israel complains, panics at the spies’ report, and declares: “Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.” They forgot the brutality of slavery, the heavy burdens, and the brutal disbelief that led them to question God despite ten plagues, manna, quail, and water from the rock. Pastor Jaden: “Sometimes our present is so bad we forget how bad our past really was.” The temptation to go back to Egypt—bondage, burdens, and disbelief—still pulls on believers today.

1. Bondage in Egypt

Israel was in literal slavery—taskmasters, oppression, killing of babies. God delivered them through Moses, the Passover lamb, and the Red Sea. Yet they wanted to return. Pastor Jaden: “The worst part of being a slave is when you don’t realize you are one.” Many today are slaves to sin, addiction, depression, pride, or bitterness without recognizing it. “I could quit if I wanted to.” Then why don’t you? James 1:14: “Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.” Romans 12:2: “Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” 1 John 1:9 and Romans 5:20 remind us grace abounds where sin abounded. “You can either die to your sin or die in your sin—but Someone already died for your sin.”

2. Burdens in Egypt

Heavy loads—bricks without straw, endless labor, no rest. God heard their groaning and remembered His covenant. Yet in the wilderness they complained about food, water, leadership. Pastor Jaden: “Before you were saved, you had no one to complain to except Facebook.” Now we have a Comforter—the Holy Spirit. Psalm 55:22: “Cast thy burden upon the LORD.” He cares for you. You still face burdens, but now you face them with God. “Salvation is not a magical fix-it-all, but now you have Someone to walk through it with.” Don’t act like you don’t have God—pray, cast your cares.

3. Brutal Disbelief

Numbers 14:11 — God asks Moses: “How long will this people provoke me? And how long will it be ere they believe me?” Despite signs, miracles, and provision, they disbelieved. Pastor Jaden: “Brutal disbelief—direct, no attempt to disguise unpleasantness.” They weren’t hiding it. They wanted a new leader and to return to Egypt. Mark 9:24: “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” 2 Corinthians 5:17: “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.” Galatians 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ… Christ liveth in me.” “You got saved, but has Egypt left you?” The poem: Could others see Christ in your words, actions, recreation? “If somebody accused you of being a Christian, would they have enough proof to convict you?”

Don’t go back to Egypt.
Bondage, burdens, and brutal disbelief await.
You were bought with a price.
Let the Lord build your life.
Who’s building your house?

Pastor Jaden closes: “Life will get hard. Things will happen you have no words for. But Egypt is not as good as you remember. Remember why you left. Don’t go back—God has brought you out for a reason. Stand in the gap. Be the one who believes and obeys. Except the Lord build the house, we labor in vain.”
