Luke 23:1-31

The Choice of Barabbas

The chief priests and scribes stirred up the crowd to reject Jesus. They chose Barabbas, an insurrectionist, seditionist, robber, and murderer. This shows what sin does to people and how they can be deceived by Satan.

The Cries For Crucifixion

Pilate found Jesus innocent, but the crowd demanded that Jesus be crucified and Barabbas be released. Pilate gave in to their demands and sentenced Jesus to die by crucifixion.

The Coming Judgement

Jesus told the women who were wailing over him to not cry for him, but to cry for themselves and their children. This was because the people were condemning themselves and their children to persecution. If you have rejected Jesus, you have invited Satan to destroy you. But you can still undo this by believing in Jesus and trusting in his death on the cross to forgive your sin.

Conclusion:

If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I urge you to do so today. He is the only way to be saved from your sin and to experience eternal life.
