Unfolding Faith

In the heart of Blue Ash, Ohio, amidst the gentle whispers of faith and the resounding call of God, Mission Baptist Church found its genesis. Co-founded by Pastor Rains and Danny Smith, with the blessings of Faith United Baptist Church led by Pastor Delin Owens, the inception of Mission Baptist in 1979 marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey—a journey etched with faith, perseverance, and the unwavering belief in God's providence.

The Inaugural Service

Led by Pastor Rains, Mission Baptist embarked on its inaugural service on January 7th, 1979, within the modest confines of the old Civic League Building on Alma Avenue. It was a gathering marked not only by the presence of a few devoted families but also by the humble footsteps of unchurched visitors—a congregation bound together by a shared purpose: to fulfill the divine mission entrusted upon their hearts.

A Growing Faith Community

As the days turned into years, the seeds of faith planted within the walls of Mission Baptist began to blossom. In the spring of 1979, during the joyous season of Easter, the church rejoiced as it celebrated its first soul won to Christ—a testament to the unwavering commitment of its members and the boundless grace of God.

Transition to a Permanent Home

With each passing year, Mission Baptist witnessed the tangible manifestations of God's blessings. In June 1981, the church transitioned from the Civic League Building to its first permanent home—a historic property nestled on 9501 Highland Ave, acquired from the local Presbyterian Church. Within those sacred walls, amidst echoes of hymns and prayers, the congregation flourished, propelled by Pastor Rains' steadfast dedication to the ministry.

A Transformative Chapter

The year 1985 heralded a transformative chapter in Mission Baptist's journey as Pastor Rains, heeding the divine call, transitioned from his secular employment at Ford Motor Company to devote himself entirely to the ministry. Armed with a thirst for theological knowledge, Pastor Rains pursued academic excellence, culminating in the attainment of a Doctorate Degree in Theology—an embodiment of his unwavering commitment to serve God and His people.

Continued Growth and Service

Through the decades that followed, Mission Baptist stood as a beacon of faith and hope within the Blue Ash community. The church expanded its physical footprint, acquiring adjacent properties and diligently serving the spiritual needs of its growing congregation. Yet, amidst the progress and growth, Mission Baptist remained anchored to its core mission—to proclaim the transformative message of Jesus Christ to all who would listen.

A New Home

In April 2014, a new chapter dawned in Mission Baptist's storied history as the congregation bid farewell to its beloved Highland Ave location and embraced a new home—a magnificent property nestled at 7595 Montgomery Road located in the adjacent community of Kenwood. With hearts filled with gratitude and anticipation, Mission Baptist held its inaugural service on May 1st, 2014, marking the dawn of a new era—a testament to God's faithfulness and provision throughout the years.

Present Day

Today, Mission Baptist Church stands as a vibrant testament to the enduring power of faith and community. From its humble beginnings in a modest Civic League Building to its current sanctuary on Montgomery Road, the journey of Mission Baptist is a testament to God's faithfulness, the unwavering commitment of its members, including the co-founder Danny Smith family, and the transformative power of His love.
